Immersive Online MBA Residency Experience
If you want to become a better leader and position yourself for immediate career advancement, a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in leadership development will help you develop the skills needed for upper management and executive-level positions. But unlike other part-time online MBA programs, the Queens University MBA features two on-campus residency experiences that will support your professional growth and leadership development.
You will start your MBA leadership program by participating in an immersive residency experience held on the Queens campus, nestled in the historic Myers Park neighborhood just minutes from Uptown Charlotte. During the residency you will discover your primary leadership style and begin learning how you will further develop your skills as a leader throughout the program. Over the course of the residency weekend you will also establish your peer teams. The team-based learning approach at Queens University is another way in which our online leadership MBA program produces capable and confident leaders who excel in the business world. The aim of this approach is to enhance each student’s online learning experience by enabling students to draw on each other’s unique perspectives, skill sets, and professional experience.
During the on-campus residencies, you will have the ability to gain high-level insights from powerful guest speakers such as Hugh McColl, retired CEO of Bank of America. You will also have the opportunity to explore your leadership strengths and weaknesses through the HBDI, 360° Feedback, and Actualized Leader Profile. As an online MBA student, you’ll be able to network and expand peer relationships through dynamic team-building activities, meet McColl School mentors, executive coaches, faculty and classmates.
Halfway through the program, you’ll attend a second on-campus residency. You will apply the leadership skills you’ve learned during thought-provoking exercises and continue your transformational experience on the journey to earning your MBA.
Interactive Residency Sessions
Our residencies are widely considered an invaluable experience within the program. The two interactive sessions last Friday evening until Sunday afternoon and are filled with leadership development, team-building, and networking opportunities to augment your online learning experience. These residencies are an important part of the McColl School experience and enhance the benefits of the program’s cohort model and team-based learning approach. Download a sample agenda and schedule here. Read some thoughts about the residencies below from online MBA students:
“I learned about my leadership style and what weaknesses are associated with it. I will take the knowledge of what areas I need to improve on and work on to perform to my best ability in my current role.”
- Claire Obert | McColl School of Business
“The connection I made with my team was by far the most valuable takeaway.”
- Justin Parker| McColl School of Business
“I I learned the traits that will make me a successful leader and those I need to work on that may prevent me from reaching my highest potential. This will allow me to continue certain things at work, change others to make me a better employee and coworker, and exhibit leadership skills to advance my career.”
