Clinical Nurse Leader Program - Overview

Online MSN with a Nurse Educator Track

The Healthcare System is Always Changing

Nurse Educator students learn about curriculum development, teaching strategies and methods for student and program evaluation. Graduates are prepared to teach in academic or clinical settings.

With the Queens University of Charlotte integrated online Master of Science in Nursing, students are able to flex their options. Students first develop a strong foundation in essential master’s level skills. They then proceed to courses designed around integrated competencies needed for evolving academic and health systems roles.

As their focus becomes clearer, they will choose an academic concentration track in Nursing Administration or Nursing Education. Opportunities to add a Queens’ post master’s certificate in either Nurse Educator or Nurse Administration will expand their career options.

Nurse Educator Program Track Information

  • The program is CCNE accredited.
  • Students are admitted twice a year, in the spring and fall semester.
  • Coursework is delivered entirely online in 8 week courses.
  • Students take one course at a time.

In the integrated online MSN, students develop foundational knowledge in program and curriculum development, teaching, and evaluation for academic and clinical settings. In addition, the students gain a strong understanding of the preparation of future nurses for healthcare systems.

Students also increase their knowledge of system level issues, including strategic planning, budgeting, and personnel management. Students will understand regulatory, legal, and ethical issues and learn to function as leaders in their organizations. In the final semester, students choose a capstone project and practicum experience in the Nurse Educator specialty.
