Message From the Director of the Online MA in Communication

Welcome to the Master of Arts in Communication program at Queens University of Charlotte. This program is housed within the James L. Knight School of Communication.

The mission of the Knight School of Communication is to develop students into effective communicators who become engaged citizens, advocates, and leaders in their communities. This program is specifically designed to equip you with the knowledge and experience necessary to leverage communication in environments that matter most to you.

At the Knight School, you can tailor your master’s degree to suit your goals and career aspirations. All students have the option to specialize in Strategic Communication and/or Organizational Communication. As an alternative to the M.A., students can complete 15 credit hour standalone certificates in Strategic or Organizational Communication. Each of these certificates are stackable and completion of both fulfill the 30 credit hour requirement for the M.A. degree.

We provide a wide range of course offerings to meet the needs of working professionals and individuals who are balancing multiple obligations in their lives. Classes regularly run on an 8-week schedule in hybrid and fully online formats. Our courses are well-organized, small-in-size, and discussion rich. This structure enables students to build meaningful connections with faculty and peers.

I welcome you to explore our website to learn more about what our program has to offer. The website provides information on our course offerings, faculty, and curriculum structure. If you have additional questions, please complete the request information form.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Lagoe, Ph.D.
